Bismillah Duas Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Bismillah Duas is a dua and dhikr app made by Sidiq Rufai, trading as Dqurator, based in the United Kingdom. Dqurator decides how your data is used (the "controller"). No accounts, no ads, and nothing sold.
Questions: support@bismillahduas.com
In short
- You don't sign up. The app gives you an anonymous ID so your favourites and notes stay safe.
- Prayer times are worked out on your phone. Your location never leaves it.
- If "Share anonymous usage data" is on, we learn how the app is used so we can improve it. Turn it off any time in You › Privacy.
- Delete everything from You › Privacy › Delete my data.
What we keep
Your practice
Stored with Google Firebase under a random anonymous ID, not linked to your name, email or phone number:
- duas you save
- private notes you write on a dua
- recitation counts, your streak and tasbih totals
- the feeling you pick on Home
- your settings, such as appearance and reminder times
- requests, feedback and error reports you send us
- if you allow notifications, this phone's push address, so we can send the occasional announcement
It stays until you delete it.
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your approximate location to work out prayer times on your phone. It is never sent to us or anyone else. If you say no, the app uses your time zone instead.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don't use a push service or collect a device token.
Usage data
While "Share anonymous usage data" is on (it is on by default), the app sends PostHog, our EU-hosted analytics service, under your anonymous ID:
- what you do in the app, such as the screens you open, the duas you play, recite, save or share (and which app you shared to, when your phone says), and opening the app from a bismillahduas.com link
- how long the app is open
- searches that find nothing, so we know which duas to add
- device model, system and app version, language, and an approximate country worked out from your IP address (the IP address itself isn't stored)
- crash reports
- screen recordings of a small share of sessions, with your notes, typing and searches hidden
We use this only to improve the app. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never combined with data from other companies. We don't use advertising IDs or track you across other apps or websites. Turn the toggle off and nothing more is sent.
Content and audio
Duas and audio come from our content service, Sanity, and some recordings stream from their original publisher. Like any website, these services see your IP address while delivering a file, and nothing else about you.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the app:
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Your anonymous ID and practice data |
| PostHog (EU) | Usage data and crash reports, only while the toggle is on |
| Sanity | Delivering content and audio |
We don't sell or rent your data. We would share it only if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
Your practice data stays until you delete it. Usage data and crash reports are kept for up to 1 year and screen recordings for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
Your choices
- Stop usage data: You › Privacy › Share anonymous usage data.
- Delete everything: You › Privacy › Delete my data. This removes your stored data and anonymous ID and starts the app fresh. Usage data sent before isn't linked to your new ID; email us if you'd like it erased.
- Location and notifications: turn them off any time in your phone's settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR in the EU and UK, or under California law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or move your data, or object to how it's used. Email support@bismillahduas.com and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Legal basis (EU/UK): keeping your practice data is needed to provide the app. Usage data relies on our legitimate interest in improving it, and you can turn it off any time.

Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and mention it in the app's release notes.
